BDCOM Online Limited is a well-known Internet service provider in Bangladesh, they launched the country's first Vehicle Tracking Service (VTS) in 2005. Since 2009, BDCOM has been supported by CONCOX Information Technology Co., world's third largest Vehicle tracking and IoT device manufacturer. On the occasion of their Twelve-year partnership, the two institutions commemorated their journey together on Monday, October 3, 2022, at the Hotel La Vinci in Kawran Bazar, where BDCOM held a press conference celebrating their partnership.
Ms. Melody Chen, Regional Sales Director (Southeast Asia) of Concox Information Technology Co., visited Bangladesh to commemorate the company's 12-year partnership. This is her first visit to Bangladesh, and during her seven-day stay, she met with members of the media and other key stakeholders in the country. Ms. Melody Chen stated at the press conference the importance of vehicle tracking in road accident prevention, supply chain management, and cold chain management. Also she was worried about the gray market for these devices. She believes that gray market devices pose security risks and emphasized how VTS will keep customers safe. She requested BTRC-approved traders to only purchase from Concox’s authorized distributors.
Ms. Melody Chen praised BDCOM Online Limited's pioneering role in Bangladesh's vehicle tracking sector during the press conference. She stated that BDCOM Online Limited is the sole official distributor of CONCOX's flagship vehicle tracking device GT06N and economy device VG03, which are well-known around the world for being the most reliable and durable tracking device. She went on to say that vehicle tracking systems have made the management of valuable vehicles much easier and more secure; Ms. Chen also mentioned that features like over-speed alerts, geofence, audio monitoring, and collision alert can help to prevent road accidents.
SM Golam Faruk Alamgir Arman, Managing Director of BDCOM Online and President of the Vehicle Tracking Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (VTSPAB), was present at the press conference, he stated that since vehicle tracking systems can control driver movements, and can regularly monitor their actions, therefore, if private, commercial, and public transportations are managed through vehicle tracking systems, we can reduce the percentage of road accidents easily. However, illegal and unauthorized tracking devices are freely bought and sold in the gray markets, for which the government loses revenue and the customer receives poor service. As a result, he vehemently demanded that government-approved vehicle tracking systems be made mandatory for all types of vehicles.
On behalf of BDCOM Online Ltd. Executive Director & Company Secretary Mr. A.K.M. Kutub Uddin, Chief Technology Officer SM Kamruzzaman, Chief Financial Officer Mr. CA Faker Ahmed FCA, Chief Strategic Officer Gazi Zehadul Kabir, Chief Information Officer Anwar Hasan Sabir Sujan and other BDCOM officials and respected resellers were present at the press conference.
